IATF 16949:2016 – Quality Management Systems – Guidelines for the Application of ISO 9001:2015 in the Automotive Industry
IATF 16949:2016
The modern technical specification for quality management in the automotive industry, ISO/TS 16949, was developed in 1999 by the IATF and the ISO technical committee for quality management ISO/TC 176. In the years since its development, it has been widely used throughout the international automotive industry, and the goal is to harmonize the various assessment and certification systems in the global automotive supply chain.
This system applies to the entire organization, not only to individual productions of an organization's activities. The subject of activity of the organization must be related to serial (large-scale) production of parts, assemblies or assemblies and production of spare parts, the requirements for which are determined by the customer. It is a common practice for the contractor to create a new organization for design, serial production and provision of after-sales services for specific products based on the requirements set by the client.
The purpose of the development and implementation of a quality management system in organizations in the automotive industry is to preventively prevent non-conformities (defects) and reduce losses in design, serial production and after-sales services related to the automotive industry.
On October 3, 2016, IATF 16949:2016 "Quality Management Systems – Guidelines for the Application of ISO 9001:2015 in the Automotive Industry" was published.
